Smith started 41 of 42 games across four Tennessee seasons despite a serious health scare — blood clots discovered in his lungs as a sophomore that threatened his career. He fought back to earn back-to-back first-team All-SEC honors and second-team All-American recognition as a senior guard in 2020.

Considered first-round talent before medical concerns caused a draft-day slide, Smith fell to the sixth round (226th overall), where Kansas City took him in 2021. He's started for the Chiefs ever since, winning multiple Super Bowls as a foundational piece of their offensive line.
